Tim Mahoney (lead guitar)
Tim Jerome Mahoney (born February 17, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska) is the
guitarist for the musical group 311. Tim is best known for his single-noted
riffs, and fusion of punk, latin, and rock styles. His main guitar brand
is Paul Reed Smith guitars, and has a large collection of them. His usual
sound is generated by a mixture of Mesa/Boogie type distortions, the BOSS
OC-2 octave pedal, rocktron intellifex, among others. Tim Mahoney currently
(4/27/06) uses a Bogner Ubershall for his distortion, Bad Cat Hot Cat
for the inbetween overdrive, and a Fender Twin Reverb for his clean sounds.
His main guitar now is a all mahogany Paul Reed Smith made for him by
their custom shop which he calls "blue". It is special in a
few unique ways. It is light blue with special tiki mask inlay on the
head stock which was designed by Bob Vessells. One very unique feature
about the guitar is the fact that it is a 24 Standard with a stop bridge
which is no longer offered by PRS unless ordered through their custom
shop. It also sports the usual Seymour Duncan JB bridge - Alnico Pro II
neck humbucker pickup combination which has been a modification on almost
all of his guitars since the very early 90's when 311 first recorded music |

Stapp of the band Creed on Thanksgiving 2005.

Chad Sexton (drummer)
Chad Ronald Sexton (born September 7th, 1970, in Lexington, Kentucky)
is the drummer for the band 311. He is noted as a very successful and
talented drummer, and is probably best known for his drum solo on the
song "Applied Science", which is often played much longer in
live shows, notably on 311's Live album. During more recent shows, the
entire band joins in the "solo," by playing larger drums and
cymbals brought out for that song only. This part of the show has been
known to last up to five or more minutes by itself. Prior to joining the
band he drummed with the Sky Ryders drum corps in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Chad is sponsored by the custom drum company, Orange County Drum and
Percussion. In 2006, he opened Chad Sexton's Drum City in North Hollywood,
California that specializes in gear, tour supplies, drum lessons, repairs
and sales.
